43 people die as building catches fire in Dhaka,

The multi-story building on Baily Road in the capital caught fire, resulting in at least 43 fatalities and 22 injuries. Given that some of the injured are in critical condition and that other victims might not be attended to on the scene, it is anticipated that the death toll will increase.

Around 9:45 p.m. on Thursday, the seven-story building was the source of the fire. According to reports, 13 fire department units arrived on the scene quickly and were able to contain the fire by 11:50 p.m.

After removing the victims from the structure, they were taken to the Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery and the Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

At around two in the morning, Health Minister Samanta Lal Sen informed the reporters that the incident had resulted in at least forty-three deaths, with the bodies being stored at the two hospitals. He was afraid that the death toll might not be all that high.

The health minister reported that of the injured, eight are being treated at the burn and plastic surgery institute and fourteen are at the Dhaka Medical College Hospital. Their health is seriously compromised.

A little over 30 minutes later, Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun, the inspector general of police (IGP), visited the medical college hospital and informed the media that they had information of 44 deaths overall, one of which had occurred at the Central Police Hospital in Rajarbagh.

The building has a clothes store and a few well-known restaurants, including Kacchi Bhai. In the evening, when people are hanging out at restaurants with their loved ones, it frequently sees a rush.

Locals claim that the fire started on the ground floor and eventually spread to the upper floors. After hours of frenetic work, about 13 firefighter units arrived on the scene and put out the fire. Cranes were used to remove dozens of people from the scene.

The director general of Fire Service and Civil Defense, Brigadier General Md Main Uddin, informed the media at 1:15 in the morning that all floors of the building are home to restaurants, with the exception of the third floor, which is home to a clothes store. Many of the restaurants' gas cylinders caught fire, quickly engulfing the structure in flames.

The facility included a huge number of gas cylinders, according to a member of the Fire Service. The cylinder explosions prevented the people from leaving the location.

Kamrul Hasan, additional superintendent of police of RAB-3, stated the fire started there because of a cylinder explosion in a ground floor coffee shop, citing the Fire Service and locals.
